The HyDrive Commander 511BH Bullhorn Outboard Kit is a complete hydraulic steering package designed for single outboard engine installations, combining a Model 401 helm unit with the 511BH bullhorn cylinder in one ready-to-fit kit. It is suited to single outboards up to 200HP, or dual counter-rotating outboards up to 400HP total.
The 511BH cylinder is built from aluminium with a comprehensive range of protection measures against corrosion and electrolysis, giving strong resistance to the marine environment while keeping weight and cost down compared to bronze or stainless alternatives. The cylinder has a 154cc capacity and 203mm stroke. The Model 401 helm unit is a 28cc/rev pump delivering 5.4 wheel turns lock to lock, an in-built lock valve, and a maximum working pressure of 800psi (1000psi absolute maximum).
Each kit is supplied with 3/8" high-pressure nylon hydraulic tubing, HyDrive Ultra-15 hydraulic fluid, all fittings, a bleeding kit and full installation instructions, allowing the complete system to be installed without specialist tools. Packed weight is 15kg. Maximum recommended steering wheel diameter is 26" (6" max dish).
The kit is available in three tiller arm fitments, Standard, Honda, and Mercury, each supplied with the matching cylinder version to suit the tiller arm and provide correct clearance from the motor cowling on the relevant 4-stroke outboards. Manufactured in Australia by HyDrive Engineering and backed by a 2 year warranty for leisure use.

Converting a Standard kit to Honda or Mercury fitment requires the corresponding draglink kit (TA-6176A for Honda, TA-6178A for Mercury), sold separately. Matching seal kit SK511BH is also available separately for servicing.
